ANNOUNCEMENT
2009 Assistance to Firefighter Grants
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) yesterday released formal guidance for the FY 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program (AFG). The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which manages the program, will begin to take applications on April 15, 2009, with a final deadline of 5:00pm EDT on May 20, 2009. As previously announced by the GAC, FEMA is including in its guidance an emphasis on "procurement integrity" rules, which grantees must follow when making purchases using federal grant funds. The GAC has been actively engaged with FEMA on these issues for the past few months.
